The 5th and final tournament at Lake of Egypt Illinois was rescheduled for Sunday, Febuary 7th. We ended up with a very nice day on the water... but nice days don't usually equal easy fishing. The bite was slow with most teams catching fish but fish over 16" were hard to come by. Most of the overs caught were in the cold water on jerkbaits while a few overs were still caught in the warmer north end of the lake. With this being the final tournament of the division; it was the deciding tournament in the Divisional Points Champions race. Two teams: Craig Walker & Mike Bryant of Malden & Dexter, MO were in 1st by 4 points at the start of the day and it would take a 3rd place or better finish to upgrade their score. Brad Noel & Rodney Enderle of Jackson, MO fishing for Brent Wills Dns & Hook Transportationstarted in 2nd Place in the points and only needed a 5th Place finish to upgrade their score; although it would take a 1st or 2nd Place finish to put them over the top. after all the cast were made and hooks were set; Craig Walker and Mike Bryant of Malden & Dexter, Mo fishing for Cook's Tackle Storage Systems, Turtle Jigs, Bindy's Video & Kristi Johnson's Cleaning Service upgraded their score by one point totaling 476 and earning Divisional Ponts Champions at Lake of Egypt earning achievement certificates, trophies, a set of B&R Outlaw Rods along with 4 free entries into next years season. The 1st Place of the tournament went to the team of Duane Grammer & Buddy Fred of Murphysboro & DeSoto, IL fishing for Grizzly Grip Spray-On Liners, Striking Designs, Old National Bank of Murphysboro and B&R Outlaw Rods. Duane & Buddy brought in 7.80lbs from the cold 37 degree water on the south end of the lake with jerkbaits; jerking $500 home with them. Congratulations Guys! 2nd Place and $100 went to the team of Donald Norris & Billy Dean of Marion & Johnson City, IL with 4.4lbs. Donald & Billy caught most of their fish on jerkbaits and jigs in the warmer water of the north end of the lake. 3rd Place and the tournament Big Bass went to the team of Craig Walker & Mike Bryant by .02ozs. earning $90. Congratulations Guys!
